Susanna (Sue) Corbett, 93, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on
January 20th, 2021 at Pembina Place Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. She was predeceased
by her husband Douglas Corbett, and by her eldest daughter Carol (Paul Rischer). Sue leaves
to mourn her four daughters Jan (Terry) Thomas of White Rock, BC; Lorraine (Elwood) Larson
of Dallas, TX; Darlene (Randy) Thomas of Winnipeg, MB; Adele (Earl) Primeau of San Martin,
CA; 16 Grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
Susanna was born at home on May 22, 1927 to August & Susanna Nordal of Selkirk, MB. In
her teens Sue was an avid canoeist with the Winnipeg Canoe Club and she passed on the love
of water sports to her children and grandchildren. Sue and Doug were married on June 21,
1947 and were lifelong residents of Winnipeg. Sue & Doug were always very hospitable and
enjoyed hosting their family and friends whether at their home in Winnipeg, their summer home
on Lake of the Woods, Ontario, or their winter home in Clearwater, Florida.
Sue learned to play piano as a child, and both Doug and Sue enjoyed music and encouraged
their daughters to study piano and to sing in duets or trios – often wearing matching outfits that
Sue herself had sewn. Sue enjoyed water skiing into her seventies, and for several years would
make it a point to ski with all five daughters - six girls behind one ski boat. Doug and Sue loved
to travel and have visited many countries. Sue was a leader in Christian Women’s Club,
serving as Chairman, Regional Rep, and as a featured speaker at clubs throughout Canada and
the USA. She continued sharing the good news of Christ’s love right up to the time of her
death. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Pembina Place
Personal Care Home for their excellent, kind, and loving care to Susanna.
