It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stan James on November 18th, 2021, at the Portage District General Hospital.
Survived by his wife Valerie (nee Streick) of 53 years, son Travis (Lori) James, and daughter Kim James, and 4 grandchildren Seth, Mia, Tyler and Cole. Stan is also survived by his half-brother Wayne, Aunt Dorothy and special friend Calvin Moore.
He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Myrtle (nee Hotel) James, 2 brothers Roy in 1970 and Ron in 2009.
Stan was born in Portage la Prairie on October 21st, 1947 to the late Jack and Myrtle James. He loved fishing, classic cars and trucks, specially his 1963 Plymouth with three on the tree. He also greatly enjoyed his Tim Horton's coffee!
Stan worked as a Heavy Equipment operator and lastly for Manitoba Highways and Infrastructure. His love for heavy equipment meant even after retirement, he was always checking out construction site just to see what was going on and the different machines being used on the job!
Stan was unselfish and had a concern for others.
A special thanks to the Dialysis Team for the 8 years of caring for Stan, and special thanks for all the care from Doctor Ken Parker – Stan’s favorite Doctor and Friend.
As per Stan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Private Family Gathering will take place at a later date.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in Stan’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, or the Central Plains Cancer Care Services. To leave messages of condolence, or to share your memories of Stan with his family, please visit our website at www.ronaldmoffitmemorialservces.com

As I Sit In Heaven
As I sit in Heaven and watch you everyday,
I try to let you know, with signs, I never went away.
I hear you when you are laughing, and watch you as you sleep,
I even place my arms around you, to calm you as you weep.
I see you wish the days, begging to have me home,
so I try to send you signs, so you know you're not alone.
Don't feel guilty that you have life, that was denied to me,
Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.
So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free,
then I know, with every breath you take,
you'll be taking one for me.
