Sheila Harrison passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 73. She was a woman of fierce spirit, quiet strength, and a caregiver’s heart, both in her career and in the way she lived her life every day.
A healthcare aide by trade and by nature, Sheila devoted herself to caring for others during their most vulnerable moments. It is a profound injustice that in her own time of greatest need, she was not afforded that same humanity. The final years of Sheila’s life were defined by a grueling and unnecessary battle against a medical system that failed her. Despite seeing her doctor frequently and begging for the help she knew she needed, her pleas were ignored and her health was neglected. Sheila was let down by the very professionals she trusted; she deserved far better than the dismissive treatment she received, and her family honors the incredible resilience she showed in advocating for herself until the very end.
Even as she fought these battles, Sheila’s vibrant spirit remained. Love, for Sheila, was expressed through action. Whether she was sitting by the bedside of a dying relative or hosting a backyard barbecue to welcome a niece home, she was the one who showed up. Her home was warm and welcoming, with the kitchen at its heart. No one could match her roasted chicken and potatoes or her famous meatballs, and her cooking carried the same generosity she gave so freely.
Sheila found joy in a clean home, fresh flowers from Papa’s garden, and a hot cup of coffee. She took pride in dressing up and the simple pleasure of feeling put together. Music brought her to life, and she never missed a chance to dance. Her laugh—loud, joyful, and contagious—filled every room, and her light could be seen in her eyes and felt by all who truly knew her.
Sheila is survived by her beloved husband, John; her daughter, Amanda; her stepsons, Jason and Johnny; her granddaughters, Tempest (Jeremy) and Daisy; and her cherished great-grandson, Henry. She also shared a special and enduring bond with her nieces, Bonny, Kim, and Darlene, who remained close to her throughout her life.
Sheila lived with resilience, generosity, and grace. She was a fighter who deserved to be heard, and her love will continue to live on through the family she protected and the lives she touched.
At Sheila’s request, the family will hold a private service at a later date.
