Ruth was born to Bert and Daisy (Moon) Vanstone on August 15, 1931 in Portage la Prairie where she grew up and received her education.

At the young age of 14, she accepted Christ as her personal saviour.  In her younger years she taught Sunday   School to the very young children and gathered with the Christians at the Portage Gospel Hall, later becoming a member of the Oakville Alliance Church and playing the piano there.  Then after its closing she was an adherent of the Community Fellowship Church at Newton, MB.

Ruth Married Norman Gadway on March 21, 1950; their family grew with the addition of Gordon, Donna and finally Cathie, and Ruth was very happy to be a stay-at-home Mum.  Unfortunately, Norman became ill and passed away in May 1959, leaving Ruth to raise her young family on her own.  In 1964 she went back to PCI to get her grade ten; then went into Winnipeg the following year for LPN training.

While at the hospital, she met Earle Creed, who later became her husband in December 1969.  They went on to add daughter Jill to complete the family, and between her family, nursing, the Honey Bee and Creed’s Corner, her life was full.

Ruth and Earle enjoyed 25 plus years together before his deteriorating health took him in June 1995.  She continued on in their family home in Oakville until the fall of 2008 when she moved across the street to Kawende Court for the next five years.  In the summer of 2013 she moved back to Portage, continuing to fill her life with her family and friends, church activities and quilting at the Common Thread,

Over the years she had many interests, including ceramics -making many beautiful items, keeping a few and giving most away; reading, putting together Christmas Shoe Boxes for the less fortunate (Through Samaritan’s Purse) every year; visiting the infirm and supporting the Youth Group through prayer.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the River Road Gospel Hall 350 River Road, Portage la Prairie with interment in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery.
