Ronald Reimer Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend Ron at the age of 74. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Judy, sons Bill (Leah) and Mike and daughter Karen, grandchildren Kayla, Alley, Joel, Brett and Zephyr and great granddaughter Kodie. He also leaves behind nine siblings - Ken, Carol, Pat, Al, Peter, Larry, Leonard, Leona and Rick and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Elizabeth, niece Tammy and sister in law Cindy.

Born in Neepawa, MB in 1944, Ron was the oldest of his siblings and moved to Arden at the age of 10, which Ron would forever consider to be “home”. Ron always believed in hard work. This ethic was instilled in him at a young age. He started working at a young age to help support his parents and siblings However it was not all work and no play.  Ron also loved to go for long drives with his brothers and friends on the country roads surrounding Arden, and had a passion for all the old cars. In the late 60’s he met the love of his life Judy, when his sister Carol brought her home to Arden to meet her parents. It was love at first sight !

Ron worked at various jobs his entire life before finding his true calling in electronics. He started his own business, Reimer Antenna Service in 1972 and was in business for 36 years after which  he decided it was time to retire.  Ron enjoyed travelling all over the countryside with his work, meeting new people and chatting whoever he met up with. Ron had a larger than life personality a great sense of humor and  enjoyed playing many pranks on people. He especially enjoyed going to McDonald's in Wal-Mart every afternoon to meet up with his coffee buddies to see who could get the best of each other.

Ron had a heart of gold and would help out whoever needed a hand. He especially had a soft spot in his heart for animals. Ron will be especially missed by his fur family, in particular his dog Molly who would ride in his truck with him wherever he went.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday May 5, 2018 at the Gathering Place (32127) Trans Canada Highway East, Portage la Prairie (across from Shell Station) at 1:30 pm, viewing will take place an hour prior.

If desired, donations can be made to Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) PO Box 1426. Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3N9
