Unexpectedly, at the Portage & District General Hospital, on Thursday, March 29th, 2018, Phillip Edward Dubois fell asleep in death at the age of 76.
Phil was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Mary Dubois, his first wife and mother of his children, Ruth, his sister Janie Berger, and his brother-in-law Joe Kaminski.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of Portage, his three daughters Mary (Ronald McLeod), Cheryl (Donald Lambert) and Pamela (Derek Vail), and grandchildren, all of Winnipeg. Also his sister Evelyn Kaminski of Portage, and two brothers, Ernest (Judy) Dubois of Warroad, MN and Elmer (Felippa) Dubois of Edson, AB., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Phil enjoyed a varied career, starting at Borjer Bros Construction in Winnipeg, then Maple Leaf Meat Processing, before going to work in Alberta in the oil fields. He spent a great deal of time in Norman Wells, NWT before retiring to come home to St. Claude to look after his ailing parents. He met Shirley in Carman and they married in 2007. He made many friends in Portage and on the dialysis ward. He especially loved going to the farm and working in his beautiful garden. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1990 and enjoyed discussing the Bible with others.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2360 Sissons Drive, Portage la Prairie, Mb. Mr. Vincent Hart will officiate. A private interment will be held at a later date.
