Peacefully on the 16th day of January 2020. Mary Anne Penner (Nee Maloney) passed away at the Portage & District General Hospital, after a brave battle with cancer.
Mary Anne was born on September20, 1940 on the family farm in the Rossendale District.
She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Bertha Maloney, sisters Carolyn and Diane as well as a nephew Kevin Maloney and niece Diane Maloney.
Mary Anne is survived by her brothers; Michael (Sylvia) and family, Kevin and Penny and their children, Matthew and Kassidy; Bryan and Maryann and their children Zander and Mia, brother William (Shirley) and family, Kurt and son Connor and Kevin’s daughter Paige.; sister Patricia (Richard) and uncle John Ostopowich, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Mary Anne lived simply and enjoyed things that brought her close to nature. She always had a garden at the family farm and grew a substantial amount of vegetables that she was always willing to share with family and friends. Her borscht was sumptuous and relished by any one lucky enough to have some. She was occasionally blunt which was refreshing in an age of political correctness. She took great pride in her home and was often found puttering around fixing this or altering that.
