Maria Pacula

Funeral service for Maria Pacula who passed away on March 13, 2018 at the Lion's Prairie Manor at the age of 93 years, will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 a. m. in the Good Sheperd Catholic Church with a reception to follow.

Maria was predeceased by husband, Roman (2002). Left to mourn are her children Stanley (Mary), Adolf (Helen), Sophie (Bill), Helen, and Anna (Ross), grandchildren Peter (Kathy), Robert (Elizabeth), Christopher (Christine), Tracey (Joel), Angela (Tyler), Reid (Christina), Joella (Brett), Scott (Carole), Megan (Matthew), Amy (Adam), and many great-grandchildren.

Born on January 27, 1925 in Bialoboki, Poland, she married Roman Pacula in 1944. In 1961, with five children, they left Poland for Canada, officially immigrating on June 9, 1961. She was “Baba” to all, including everyone’s friends. Her bright blue eyes lit up when she saw you, and when she talked to you she made you feel like the most important person in her world. Baba enjoyed showing people her love for them through food. If you went to Baba’s house, you’d better be hungry. Her pierogi, cabbages rolls, and many other Polish treats were famous to all who knew her. Baba was a very devoted grandmother, always beaming with pride at all of her grandchildren’s many accomplishments. She enjoyed trips to Island Park for ice cream and to see the goslings in the spring, sitting in the peace and beauty of Anna’s back yard, and listening to her granddaughters sing.  Her greatest joy though, was watching her beautiful great grandchildren do absolutely anything, and like everyone else, they adored their Baba.  Maria was a strong, determined woman, who worked tirelessly to give her children a better life in Canada. She was a woman of strong faith, was a dedicated member of the CWL for many years, and would have given the world to anyone if she could. Her beaming smile and sweet demeanor made her so easy to love, warming the hearts of all who met her.  She will truly be missed by everyone who knew her.

Our family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff at Lion’s Prairie Manor for all they did for Maria over the past few years.

Funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 1st at 11:00 am at the Good Shepherd Parish, 1125 Saskatchewan Ave East Portage la Prairie, MB. with reception to follow.
