Margaret "Rita" (Epp) Klassen

Margaret “Rita” Klassen nee Epp of Portage la Prairie passed away and went home to her Saviour, on February 22nd, 2024. She was 92 years old.

Left to cherish her sweet memories are her daughter Lori (Rob) Loewen, daughter in law Linda (Lawrie), and sons Carl (Laura) ,Glen (Karen) ,Tim (Sheri), and 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, as well as her remaining siblings Helen, Mitzie, Abe, and 5 in-laws and their families.

Rita was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Helen Epp, her husband Arthur of 61 years, son Bob, daughter in-law Sherry, sister Anne, and brother Henry as well as extended family members.

Rita was born in Brandon on June 5th,1931 and grew up in the Wingham district where her father was a bee keeper. She attended Winkler Bible School from 1951-1952, worked in Winnipeg as a secretary and then married Art Klassen July 16th,1954. They initially lived in Poplar Point, then later settled in Fortier, Oakville, Newton and eventually to Regency House in Portage la Prairie where Dad was with her for the first 4 years, until his passing. Then, with the tremendous help of Home Care and her dear cousins Jake and Elsie Hamm, she remained another 8 years at Regency House until she fell on January 2nd of this year and remained in hospital until her passing.

Mom’s life will be celebrated at her home church where she loved to worship, and fellowship with her family and friends.

The Funeral Service for Rita Klassen will take place at the Community Fellowship Church, 60007 Road 27 W. Newton MB, on Monday, March 4th, 2024 at 2:00 pm. A Private Family Interment will take place at the Oakville Cemetery prior to the service.
