Lorraine Stangl Obituary

Lorraine Joy Stangl (nee McGugan) passed away peacefully at her home on May 12th, 2021. She was 88 years old.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Our Dad, Paul Stangl, had passed away October 27th, 2013 and Mom missed him every day since.

Mom and Dad raised 12 children on their farm near Macdonald Manitoba; Michele (John), Melanie (Daryl), Cheryll (Harry), Joanne (Minaz), Lynn (Chris), Darcia (Claude), Dallas (Lesley), Leslie (Robert), Tami (Pat), Jeff (Jane), Cathy, and David (Tricia). They enjoyed 64 years of a perfect marriage.

Mom was an amazing person, always working hard to benefit her family and the farm. She was legendary for her baking, cooking, and sewing skills. She was honest and generous, always willing to help others who needed it. She loved everyone in her large extended family, and she had a superhuman memory for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. Mom also had a special love of animals, especially her two cats which gave her comfort in her last days.

She had a wonderful sense of humor, and always knew the right thing to say or do when we had problems. She amazed us with her creativity and artistic talent. She inspired us with her optimism and perseverance, especially in hard times. She guided us with love and led us by her example.

Mom, we will miss you so much. The isolation of the past year makes it even harder to let you go, but we know how much you loved dad. Now you are together again.

The Stangl family would like to thank Dr. Quesada, nurses and staff at the Portage Clinic, the doctors, nurses and staff at the Portage District General Hospital, Manitoba Home Care, Sunset Palliative Care Inc, and Ronald Moffit Memorial Services. Mom had requested no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, Mom’s wishes would be to treat our families, friends and neighbors with kindness, humanity and love.
