Llewellyn (Llew) Thomas John

Llewellyn ( Llew) Thomas John was born on June 29th, 1922. He passed away peacefully on September 16th, 2018.

Llew served in England during WWII as an Electrical Aircraft Engineer. He returned home to Regina, SK where he met and married (Mary) Eileen Jones in 1950.  The young family moved to Portage la Prairie, MB in 1960.  Llew worked at Delta Motors, The Vopni Press, then as a letter carrier for Canada Post until his retirement.

He was actively involved in Portage's Naturalist Society, Arts Council, Camera Club and The Delta Marsh.  He also loved creating canes with Diamond Willow, gardening, visiting the Island Park Deer, spending time with his family, friends, travel and birding with the girls.  Llew was a kind, intelligent, inquisitive man who never let "new technology" stump him.  He truly appreciated the "little things" and found beauty all around him.  "Gumpi", you were truly loved and are never to be forgotten.

Llew was predeceased by his wife Eileen in 2009.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Ken (Lois); daughter Wendy (Trevor); granddaughter Danielle (Dion); great granddaughters Jessica (Joey) and Carleigh (Zac); and great-great granddaughter Aria.

The family wishes to thank the staff from Parkside at the Lions Prairie Manor for their care and compassion over the last few years.

If anyone so wishes, donations may be made to the Portage & District Arts Council, or The Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.

At Llew's request there will be no formal service.
