With great sadness, I announce the passing of Lenard John White, born in Winnipeg, Mb on June 18th, 1945. Len passed away on February 6th, 2022 at the Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie, MB.
Survived by his life partner Arlene Haines, sons Derrick (Cheryl) and Daniel White, step children Ted Tottle, Carla Tottle Robertson (Adam), and granddaughters Alberta and Dyllan Robertson. He was predeceased by his parents Donald Alexander White and Jessie Ann (Reid) White.
Len grew up on Manitoba Ave. in the North end of Winnipeg, attending William Whyte (elementary) Aberdeen (Jr. High 7-9), Tec Voc. (Sr. High 10 - 12) and Red River Community College. Len spent a lot of years working on and painting cars. He loved horses and as young man was involved Harness Racing. He coached soccer, hockey when his boys were young, flew model planes, belonged to several groups. He Curled with Dan at the Heather Curling Club for several years. Len worked for Winnipeg Transit for 21 years, painting buses. We moved to High Bluff when he retired in June 2005. Len was a very handy man to have around as there were very few things he couldn’t do or fix. He loved to fish, ride motorcycles, talking to people and playing Flyball with our dogs. After we both retired, we travelled in Canada and US with our dogs. It didn’t matter where we were, Len was very social and would always find time to talk with fellow travelers. - Written by Arlene
