Dec.12, 2025 will always be remembered by our family as the day, our beautiful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Kristy Jackelynne McLean died. Kristy passed away after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. The pain she had to go through was horrendous!
Kristy was born Oct.12, 1977, six weeks premature, in Winnipeg. She was raised by parents, Jack and Dianne McLean, and loving grandparents Jack and Isabel McLean and Lue and Ron Evans, all of Portage la Prairie.
Kristy is survived by her parents, husband Adam Klein, daughters Brianna (Robertson), Mackenzie, Kiera, Hailey Klein, brother Cam (Ashley), nieces Isabella, Atavia, uncles and aunts, Darcy(Kim) Bermel, Lynne Jeffery, Patti Bermel, Allan Mclean, Barb(Dan) Pappas, Scott (Catherine) McLean and cousins Cheryl, Alleen, Shelby, Chad, Mel, Colen, Amy, Taylor, Morgan, Jarrett and many special great aunts and uncles.
Kristy was a special person, bubbly, energetic, friendly and outgoing. She made friends easily and kept in touch with everyone. She knew what was going on in everyone's life and always offered support if you needed it.
Kristy tried her hand at many sports as she was growing up, tap dancing, ballet, gymnastics, figure skating, swimming, triathlons, curling and all the school sports. She excelled in track and field and won scholarships to the Peace Garden Camps several years in a row. Her love of sports continued into adulthood, cheering on her children and her beloved Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets.
Kristy had a strong work ethic. She worked part time jobs through high school, university and college. When she graduated from Assiniboine Community College, she went right to work at Fairview Home in Brandon. Kristy loved being a Nurse's Aide and found her patients to be kind, entertaining and appreciative....for the most part. She continued her career in Wainwright at Points West Living. She was a treasured employee, always smiling, friendly, supportive and efficient. She was forced to retire due to poor health and the staff and patients held a fund raiser to say thank you to her.
Kristy loved being a Mom. Her four daughters, Brianna, Mackenzie, Kiera and Hailey, were her life and she would have done anything for them. She drove, chaperoned, cheered and encouraged them on. Kristy became a Girl Guide leader; fund raised and took a group to Ottawa. She managed soccer teams, volunteered in the classroom and helped her children with all their school work. Yes, family got roped in to making paper mache dinosaurs supporting Jump Rope and sewing a few costumes but she was the one who organized it all. She loved shopping for prom dresses, setting up photo shoots, arranging manicures, hair styling, the works! What Kristy also loved was being a grandmother to Dennis, B.J. and Lyra. They were the apple of her eye and she bragged about all their baby milestones and childhood adventures. Every visit with her meant watching the latest photos and videos of her kiddos.
Kristy liked to talk, so she kept in touch with everyone in her family or friend sphere. She knew what Great Aunt Isabel was up to or where cousin Gigi was going to vacation. We will all miss the updates on extended family. Another highlight for her were the cookie exchange parties at Xmas with friends, big girls’ night out or movie dates with the girlfriends. Kristy's friends were so important to her, they rallied around her with gifts, flowers, meals, visits, talks and holding hands. For that her family is so thankful.
To say we will miss Kristy is an understatement. She was one of a kind! We will miss her smiles, hugs, laughter and joy she showed for family. We are grateful to have seen her grow into such a wonderful person and will treasure our memories of her forever. Kristy died knowing she was loved!
Life is not forever......Love is.
