It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Kathleen (Kathy) Preston, after a lengthy battle with cancer, on March 14th, 2025 at the age of 65 years.
Kathy leaves to cherish her memory, sons Keith Preston and Garrett Preston and her Daughter Candace Preston of Portage la Prairie; Grandsons, Link & Dante of Gladstone MB and Nolan, Brendon and Granddaughter Breanna of Winnipeg MB, Brother, Wade Preston of Portage la Prairie and many friends.
Kathy was predeceased by her mother Barrie Preston (2021), Stepfather Bernard Best (2013), Brother Keith Barry Preston (1991), Father William (Bill) Preston (2007).
Kathy was born to Barrie (Ingram) Preston and William Preston on November 14, 1959 in Brandon, Manitoba. As a teen Kathy's family moved to Goose Bay, Labrador where they resided for many years before moving to Thompson. Kathy met her long-time friend/partner and father of her 3-children, Raymond Best. She eventually moved south to Portage la Prairie with her family where she worked numerous part-time jobs while raising her children. She moved into Oak Tree Towers in 2013 where she resided in Portage la Prairie until her passing. While there she made countless memories and friends with residents and staff in the kitchen.
Kathy loved to crochet and was very good at it. She did very fine crochet and made beautiful table clothes, doilies, etc. She was very personable and loved to laugh and joke. She was very helpful when anyone needed help with anything. Close to the end she was very concerned about her cat, Ninja. One of the last things she said was, "I love that cat".
“Mom you can't imagine how much we love and miss you and dad; with him passing just a month before you. We never imagined we would lose both of you so close together, or at the age of 65. Find comfort in knowing how close Keith and I have become moving in together and being there for each other. With a hole in our hearts, we will never be the same. Love your daughter/son, Candace and Keith. Hug's n Kisses XOXOXO”.
Kathy's memory will live on through the countless lives she touched and her love for her family.
