It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Janet Nichols. Janet was born in MacGregor, MB. on May 2, 1938 and died on her 80th birthday, May 2, 2018. She passed suddenly with courage, grace and dignity after a short battle with cancer.
Janet was the best loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend.
Janet attended McAuley School.
She was married to Max for 62 years. They lived their lives to the fullest. The first 10 years of marriage, her and Max lived in mobile homes, mostly on construction sites. They moved to Winnipeg in the early 1960’s, until they retired to Portage la Prairie in 1994. Janet and Max were soulmates until the end.
Janet deeply cared for her 7 grand-kids and great-grandchildren. She was involved and watched them play hockey and other sports, and enjoyed going to every concert and performance they participated in. She made a constant effort to stay in contact with her family and friends. We will miss our visits and talks immensely, with her in person and on the phone. Her many hobbies included reading, gardening, watching sports, bingo, cleaning and organizing. Her trademark was her one of a kind ‘peanut butter square’ and the amazing perogies.
Janet flew with her husband for many years as they went to the cabin every weekend and in 1994 they took a trip to Alaska in their Cessna 180.
Janet will be sadly missed by all, especially her husband Max, children Della, Gloria, Daryl (Jill) and Bradley (Claudia). Grandchildren; Tara (Jason) , Garret (Sherri), Justin, Tyler, Nicholas (Alex), Jordon and Jack, great-grandchildren; Liam, Ewan, Cole, Syren and Saige. She is also survived by 4 brothers, Nelson (Grace), David, Robert and Frank and three sisters; Betty (Harold), Ellen and Florence (Reg) .She was predeceased by her parents Nelson and Christina Hulme and two brothers Edward Hulme and William (Bill) Hulme.
