George Ernest Gittins passed away on Saturday, January 20th, 2018, in the Portage & District General Hospital.
George was born in Detroit, MI on March 14th, 1928, to George & Ellen Gittins of Detroit, who resided there until moving to the farm at Barrie, ON in September 1939.
George listened to the Gospel and received that message into his heart. As a young man, he felt the call to offer his life in the ministry and began in that work in south-western Ontario in 1950. He continued giving of himself as he laboured in Quebec, Michigan, Utah, Nebraska, Colorado, Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba.
When failing health prohibited George from being as active as he'd like, he found a very comfortable home in the Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie and resided there at the time of his passing.
George was predeceased by his only sibling, a sister Kathrine Ellen Gittins; his father George Pemberton Gittins; and his mother, Ellen Jorgina (Jensen) Gittins.
He leaves with special memories, his co-workers in the ministry, extended family and a great many friends around the world.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the MNP Building, (Island Park) with a reception to follow. Interment will be in the family plot in Carberry Cemetery, Carberry Manitoba.
