Frank Vust Obituary

Suddenly, on April 23rd, 2022, at the Grace hospital, Frank Vust of Winnipeg, MB. passed into the presence of the Lord at 89 years of age. 

Frank was born on September 11th, 1932 in Lyon County, Iowa to Henry and Grace Vust.  He moved to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1947.  On June 27th, 1958, he married Marianne (Frers) in Ste. Rose du lac and remained married until her passing in 1996.  On January 2, 1998, he married Ruth (Geertsema) in Winnipeg, Manitoba and remained married until her passing on in 2019.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, sisters Martha Hoyes, Selma, and Joyce, brothers Harry and Gilbert, brothers-in-law Keith Hoyes and Albert Moman, and niece Gail Vust. Frank is survived by two sons, David of Saskatoon, and Mark of Winnipeg, sisters Freda Moman, Lois (Jack) McCormick, and Alice all of Portage, brothers Alvin (Jenny), Merle, and Roy (Darlene) all of Portage, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank spent most of his working life working with his brothers on the family farm, Vust Ltd.  He specialized in growing potatoes for Carnation Foods, and McCain Foods, with which Vust Ltd.  won numerous awards.  He continued to flourish on the farm until the farm sold in 1996. 

Frank gave his life to Christ at the age of 10, and was active in the church, serving as a deacon at both Bible Baptist and Grant Memorial Churches.  He was also active in small groups and helping out with numerous church events. 

There will be a viewing at Ronald Moffit Memorial Services, 306 Saskatchewan Ave. E in Portage la Prairie, MB on Thursday, May 5th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, May 6th, at the Green Acres Memorial Gardens Chapel, 1 Green Acres Lane, Highway 1 E, Winnipeg MB.  The service will be followed by internment at Green Acres with a reception to follow in the Green Acres Reception Centre.

There will also be a memorial service at 2:00 pm on May 7th at Bible Baptist Church, at 765 Saskatchewan Ave. W, Portage la Prairie MB.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tom and Lee Castor’s ministry, Clear and Simple Media.
