It is with heavy hearts that the Rey family announce the passing of Eugene Paul Joseph Rey (59) on March 21st, 2026. After a lengthy battle with lung cancer, Eugene passed at home with his sons at his side, and surrounded by close family.
Born August 13, 1966, Eugene was a skilled carpenter, helping to build many homes in his community, and around Manitoba. Eugene’s front door was always open to friends and family for a quick visit or an extended stay. He will be fondly remembered for his fiery spirit and his love for those close to him.
Eugene was predeceased by his parents Paul and Cecile (née Pilloud) Rey, his Brother Leo Rey, and his Aunt Marguerite (née Pilloud) Painchuad. He is survived by his two sons Tyler, and Devin (Alannah). As well as his siblings, Norbert (Suzanne), Romeo (Gisele), Suzanne (Jim), Lynne, Jean, Micheline (Rene). He also will be remembered by all of his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Claude Community Center on Saturday, April 4th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honour to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9
