On Friday, May 1st, 2026 Ernest Bennett Parker passed away peacefully at the Lion’s Prairie Manor at the age of 95 with his daughters by his side.
He was born on the farm at Naicam Saskatchewan to Ernest O. and Jennie V. (nee Christopherson) Parker, and did his school there.
He joined the R.C.A.F. and served from 1950 – 1960. He met and married Margaret Sutherland and they had three daughters. He worked for 35 years in the trucking industry and retired in 1990 on his 60th birthday.
He spent 25 winters in Texas where he made many friends, as well as in Oklahoma. He married Betty Carpenter who passed away in 2005. He then married Juanita Martin in 2009, until her passing in 2014.
When moving back to Portage, he moved into Oak Tree Towers a few floors down from his former wife Margaret and they remained close friends until her passing in 2016. His next move was to the Lion’s Prairie Manor.
Left to cherish his memory are his two remaining daughters Marg (Byron) McKenzie of Castlegar BC, and Lori (Stuart) MacDougall of Sackville NS, and son-in-law Garnet Bond of Portage la Prairie, MB, grandchildren Kathy (Keith), James (Tammy), Jason, Chris (Sheena), Darra, Michael, and Jennifer, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his daughter Bev, great grandson Adrian, his parents Ernest and Jennie, siblings Earl, Tom, Mary Edith, Baby brother Tom, and Andy, his wives Betty Carpenter, Juanita Martin, and former wife Margaret, and numerous extended family.
A Private Family interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Portage la Prairie, MB.
