With his family by his side, Emile passed away on September 1st, 2024, at his home, at the age of 72 years old.
Emile was raised in a small Metis community called St. Laurent, MB, where he met the love of his life, Cathy. They got married on June 2, 1973 and welcomed their 3 children; Deanna on March 12, 1973, Tony on March 11, 1974 and Shelley on September 2, 1976. They lived in St. Laurent for a short time and later moved to St. Ambroise, MB, where they raised their family and resided for the remainder of his life.
Emile treasured spending time with the love of his life. They appreciated simple times together, such as, driving around looking at the wildlife or making precious memories together at home. Emile and Cathy became grandparents in 1992 and were blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren. In June of 2011, they welcomed their first great grandchild and have a total of 5 great grandchildren and another great grandbaby on the way. Emile’s family was his pride and joy, and his greatest gift.
Emile was extremely hardworking and with many talents. He spent the majority of his life working in the Carpentry industry for numerous companies across Canada. He had a true passion for the outdoors where he spent over 40 years as a Waterfowl Guide, Commercial Fisherman and Trapper. In these hardworking years, he made many lasting friendships.
Emile was a proud Metis man. In Emile’s spare time, you would find him Hunting, Fishing and Trapping with his family and friends. His favourite Game to hunt was waterfowl and whitetail deer. Emile enjoyed keeping busy. As a hobby, he would spend numerous hours building wooden flat bottom boats for Waterfowl Hunting and wooden jiggers for Commercial Fishing. Emile often shared his wisdom with his family and was happy to show them the ropes along the way.
Emile was also a wonderful Square Dancer and you would be sure to find him up on the dance floor among his siblings, children and grandchildren. He cherished his time in sports as a Player and a Fan. He found joy in cheering for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, in the many sports and extracurriculars they took part in over the years; Hockey, Basketball, Baseball and Square Dancing to name a few. He never missed a game or performance, and was their #1 fan.
Later in Emile’s life and during his downtime, he loved to watch hunting and sports on TV. He was an avid Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Blue Jays fan. On any given day, you could find him surrounded by his family at home, watching TV with loud cheering, lots of laughter and sometimes, a little smack talk during the games.
He built quite the legacy that will be carried on for many years and generations by his family.
