It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Wayne Archer, age 64, of St. Claude. Doug passed away on May 23, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him deeply. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend whose presence will be greatly missed.
Doug was born and raised in Portage and spent many years working in heavy-duty construction, where he became known for his strong work ethic, determination, and hands-on abilities. Outside of work, he was a true “grease monkey” and autobody enthusiast at heart. His passion for mechanics and restoration lasted a lifetime. He had a knack for fixing just about anything and found great joy in working on vehicles, bringing old projects back to life, and spending countless hours doing what he loved most.
Doug’s mechanical talent was only matched by his sense of humor. He had a comical side that people naturally gravitated toward, and he loved making others laugh. Whether through a joke, a story, or his quick wit, he had a way of bringing smiles to the people around him.
He also loved nature and found peace at his summer cabin, where he enjoyed the outdoors and the simple things in life. Those quiet moments surrounded by nature were among the places where he felt most at home.
Above all else, Doug treasured his family. He leaves behind his loving partner, Angie; his children, April (Dean), Danielle (Steven), and Cody (Sierra); and his cherished grandchildren, Blake and Ariana Grace, who brought him immense pride and joy.
He is also survived by his siblings Dwaine, Darryl (Rocky), Patti (James), Aaron, and Rob (Marina), along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him deeply.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Wayne and Jean Archer, as well as his grandparents, Syd and Elsie Archer, and Ed and Myrtle Roy.
Doug will be remembered for his humor, his hardworking spirit, his mechanical gifts, and the memories he created with everyone fortunate enough to know him. Though he is gone from our sight, his legacy lives on through the people he loved and the many lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
As per his wishes, family will celebrate Doug's life privately.
