On Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the Portage and District General Hospital, Don Oswald, beloved husband of Noreen Oswald, passed away at he age of 82 years.
Don was born in Winnipeg on May 8, 1937 to Frida and the late Rueben Oswald. He attended school n the Falmouth District near Amaranth, MB. Following school, he attended college in Winnipeg where he received his diploma in welding.
After farming for several years at Amaranth, he moved to Kelowna, B.C. where he worked in an open pit mine as a welder.
In 1962 he married Dorothy Kirkland and two children were born to that union. The marriage dissolved in 1995.
That year Don moved back to Manitoba and opened a welding shop were where he served the community for a number of years. In Amaranth Don was involved in community activities and service as a director for the Amaranth Credit Union.
In 1998 he married Noreen Oswald (nee Baker) and they continued living in Amaranth until retirement took them to MacGregor, MB where they were living at the time of his passing.
Predeceased by his father Reuben Oswald, his daughter Tara and daughter-in-law Christine, Don is survived by his wife Noreen, mother Frida Oswald, one son Shawn (Tatiana), grandchildren; Josh, Levi and Jacoba and one great-grandson Rj. Also three brothers; Jerry (Terry), Gene (Roberta), Jim (Marilyn) and one sister Patricia (Kris) plus numerous nieces and nephews and step-family.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held at the Austin Evangelical Church, Austin MB.
