Dianne passed away peacefully with her husband Ken at her side Monday August 11, 2025 at Portage General Hospital at the age of 74. Her loving husband Ken was able to hold her in his hands until her last breath.
Dianne was predeceased by her parents Ovide and Noella Desrochers, and sister Madeline Jackson.
Dianne is lovingly remembered by her husband Ken of 54 years, brother Gerry (Marla) Desrochers of Hudson Bay SK, Sister and Bother-in-Law, Marie and Jed Garfield of Kamloops BC, Brother and Sister -in- Law, Kerry and Sharon Tranborg of Saskatoon SK and Brother and Sister-in- Law, Trent and Jana Cleverley of Calgary AB. She also leaves behind nephews, Leighton, Michael, Colin, Scott, Slade, Devon and nieces, Myla, Lindsay, Cassandra and Mackenzie and great nephews, Hudson, Logan, Lev, Fen, Gus, Anders and Seth as well as numerous cousins and extended family and friends and especially her very dear friend Diane Thornquist of White Rock BC.
Dianne was born in Baldur MB on January 3, 1951. As the daughter of Hotel Keepers and Owners, Dianne’s early years found the family moving to several communities in Manitoba until they finally settled down in Hudson Bay SK as the proud new owners of Desrochers Hotel. It was here that Dianne met the love of her life Ken Tranborg at the age of 16. Dianne and Ken both moved to Winnipeg in 1969 where Dianne attended Success Business College. Upon graduating, Dianne accepted a position with the College as an administrative secretary and remained with the company until her retirement in 2006.
Dianne and Ken were married in 1971 and in 2005 they moved to St. Francois Xavier, MB where they purchased a small acreage on the banks of the Assiniboine River where they built their dream home. Dianne loved gardening and home decorating. The new home and landscape provided her the perfect canvas to practice her passion. Dianne took great pride in her Hosta beds and the different varieties she had accumulated. Through the process of splitting and dividing, many of her plants have found new homes with friends and family throughout MB and Saskatchewan. Dianne also loved decorating her home and over the past 50 years many changes and improvements have resulted.
Dianne loved socializing with friends and neighbors and especially loved hosting or participating in theme parties for special occasions. Dianne was insistent with group participation and somehow managed to persuade our group of friends that opting out was not an option. So much fun was had and so many memories were made.
Dianne enjoyed outdoor activities in addition to her gardening including snowmobiling, golfing and motorcycling. In particular, two very special events stand out which included our motorcycle trip to the Maritimes in 2017 with our friends Bob and Morene Triska and hosted by friends Tim and Ellen O’Conner of Frederickton NS. It was a magical trip and one which will never be forgotten. This was followed in 2018 with another fabulous trip, this time to BC with friends Andre and Sylvia Allard, four Seniors cruising on their Harleys and living the dream.
In 2010, Dianne and Ken purchased their winter home in Casa Grande Arizona where for the next for 14 years they spent the winters enjoying the warm temperatures, sunshine and the many new found friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff in the Medical Ward of the Portage General Hospital for taking care and providing comfort to Dianne during her final days. Thank you to the family and friends who came to say goodbye to Dianne, who called, messaged and offered their support to our family through this difficult time. And finally, the family wish to acknowledge Ken Clifford for being a beacon of love, comfort and compassion for Dianne and Ken for the past several months.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dianne’s memory may be made to Parkinson’s Canada, 316-4211 Yonge St. North York, ON, M2P 9Z9.
