On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, longtime resident of Portage la Prairie, Clara (Lavallee) Barrault passed away peacefully at Brandon Regional Health Centre, at the age of 80 years.
Clara was predeceased by her husband, Calvin Barrault, her parents Joseph and Dinah (Lépine) Lavalee, sister Elsie Everett (Meryl), brother Eugene Lavallée and Clifford Lavallée (Cindy). Clara is survived by her son Barry Lavallée (Cindy) and her daughter Michelle Lavallée (Richard), grandchildren Cody Lavallée (Luie), Tony Lavalee, Ashley Lavallée and Ryan Lavallee and great grand daughter Zara Lavallee.
Clara was born in Portage la Prairie, Mb on June 9th, 1944 to parents Joseph and Dinah (Lépine) Lavallee. She worked many roles over the years but the most memorable was her time as a cook at A&N and settled down as the manager of Long John Silver which turned out to be a role that she thrived in until she retired early to care for her husband.
Clara was a breast cancer survivor (2003) and anyone who knows her well knew her genuine love for Bingo! She also enjoyed doing puzzles, had a love of music and playing many card games with those she loved most.
Clara enjoyed a quality visit with family and friends. She would often meet with her sister Ella at Oddfellows and enjoyed their lunches together. Clara loved to pass time by catching up on her favourite tv shows or game shows including Wheel of Fortune, Bonanza and Golden Girls. She was especially proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Her love could be felt by the way she would talk about them or her time with them or how she would hang on to the gifts and handmade memories over the years.
The family would like to extend special thanks to everyone at Brandon Regional Health Centre that helped care for Clara with care and compassion during her final time. They were truly focused on her needs and were very supportive to the family.
The Funeral Service for Clara will take place on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025 at the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Saskatchewan Ave. E. Portage la Prairie, MB. Viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:15, and the Service will start at 1:30 pm, followed by a Reception in the Church Hall. Cremation will follow the service and a private interment will take place at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to Ronald Moffit Memorial Services of Portage la Prairie, MB.
