Catherine May Allard Obituary

Catherine May Allard nee Tomlinson, wife of the late Jacques “Jack” Allard, passed away into the presence of her Lord and Savior in the early hours of Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019, while at home with her children by her side, after having fought a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. The Lord was her strength right to the end.

Catherine May Allard was born on May 27th, 1959 to Michael and Gladys Tomlinson of Headingley, Manitoba, the fourth of six children. She attended school in Headingley and Winnipeg. She met Jacques on November 4th, 1978 and they were married on November 11th, one year later in St. Eustache at the Roman Catholic Church. They built their first home on Lido Plage Road in St. Francois Xavier, and a second in Newton Siding, moving in October of 1988, where she resided until her passing. She worked as a childcare provider at Maples Daycare until she and Jacques started their family.

Catherine accepted Jesus as her personal Saviour in her early twenties. Her two loves were her Lord and her family. Together with Jacques, she homeschooled the children from day one. Home life was full and fulfilling for her as she put her whole heart into housework, schoolwork, garden work, yard work... yes, she loved to work! Creating fun and meaningful experiences as a family included being outdoors, throwing parties, singing, and travelling.

She enjoyed going to Winnipeg to be with her Mom Gladys, always going out of her way to talk to and encourage others, even people she did not know personally.

Catherine intentionally served others, even during her own hard times and spent much time in prayer for other people that God laid on her heart. She placed a high priority on discipling her children, and cultivating a rich relationship with Christ herself to that end, making time to journal, read her Bible, and pray. To the very end, Catherine remained strong in faith and gave God all the glory.

She will be missed by so many.

She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2005, as well as her dad Michael David Tomlinson, father-in-law Laurent Allard, and sister-in-law Michelle Beaudin. She leaves behind her children, sons: Tom (Alana), Jesse (Rebekah), Jonathan, Justin, and Caleb, daughters: Jacie and Crystal, three grandchildren, Leah, Teegan and Baby on the way, her mother Gladys Tomlinson, siblings, Teresa Tomlinson, Barb (Rick) Brown, Violet (Murry) Tomlinson, Darrell Tomlinson, John (Verlie) Tomlinson, mother-in-law Laurette Allard, in-laws:  Luc (Diane) Allard, Dennis Allard, Florent Beaudin, Sylvie (Ralph) Piche, Marie Anne (Bill) Fitzgerald, Nico (Brian) Gibson, and Elisabeth Thomas, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families, along with numerous other extended family.

The viewing will be held at the Golden Plains Baptist Church, Hwy 240 N, 1201 Tupper St. N., Portage la Prairie Friday, January 11th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  The funeral service will be held at the MNP Exhibition Center on Island Park, Portage la Prairie, 10:30 am., Saturday, January 12, 2019 with interment following at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Portage la Prairie, MB.
