Bernadette Sampson Obituary

On Monday, October 20th, 2025 Bernadette passed away peacefully at the age of 91.

 Bernadette was born at Preston Pans, East Lothian County, Scotland where she grew up and received her education.

While on vacation in Holland she met her future husband, a Canadian soldier, and they were married in Scotland on June 26th, 1957.

Three months later they came to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where they lived for the next nineteen years. Bernadette worked for the original Pizza Place Restaurant, and also Gondola Pizza.

In 1976 they moved to Cape Breton where they resided until 1991, returning to Manitoba to make their home in Portage la Prairie, MB.

Bernadette loved gardening, knitting, crafts and their summer cottage at Big Point, MB. Where she and Patrick spent seven happy years. Her association with the ladies of the Red Hat Society was important and enjoyable for her. She also spent many hours at the Herman Prior Seniors Centre.

Predeceased by her husband Patrick in 2004, her father and mother Michael and Barbara Arciero, her sister Anne Arciero, her sister and brother-in-law Isa and Robert Wilson. She is survived by one son Russell (Carole), granddaughter Jennifer (Dwayne) Timony, great granddaughters Melissa and Samantha, and great grandson Nicholas, one niece Linda Tenant, and a host of friends.

A Private Family interment will take place at a later date in Nova Scotia, where Bernadette will be laid to rest beside her husband.
