Audrey Smith Obituary

Audrey Annabelle Smith entered the presence of her Lord on March 31, 2021 at the age of 86. Her family and friends will greatly miss her enthusiasm for life and her wonderful sense of humour.

She leaves to mourn her passing her step-children Arthur (Debbie) Bruce (Linda), Cindy Wright (George) and Cyril (Colleen). She dearly loved her 12 step- grand-children and 31 great- grandchildren.

Audrey was pre-deceased by her husband Sandy in 2011, her step grand-daughter Melinda Smith and her brothers-in-law Allan MacFarlane and Frank Hull. Her dear sisters Daryl and Bethel will miss her as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Audrey was born in Waterford, Saskatchewan to Herman and Evelyn Smith. At the tender age of nine she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She loved Him and followed His word all her life. Audrey received her formal education in Saskatchewan and later moved to Winnipeg for her higher education. She used a stenographer course she took to work in a lawyer’s office. In 1959 she took summer classes to get a business certificate and was able to teach business classes in the public schools. In later years she did substitute teaching. Audrey was a member of the West End Gospel Hall in Winnipeg where she was a friend to young and old. She was a special Auntie to her nieces and nephews and showered them with love. At the age of 40 she moved to Portage to open a private Seniors home where she gave lots of love and care to several elderly people. In 1980 she married Sanford Smith and started a whole new adventure as wife, step-mother and step-grandmother. She embraced this roll whole heartedly and we will miss her love, prayers and interest in all we do.

Audrey took 3 trips to Africa to visit two life long missionary nursing friends. Her last trip was at 79 years of age! She and Sandy also travelled in Europe, Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Audrey and Sandy served the Lord in the local church at the Gospel Hall on 1st St. (now River Road) for many years and in many sacrificial ways. She was adept at seeing the needs around her and then doing something about it! She had many life time friends from many countries.

Due to declining health Audrey has lived at the Lions Prairie Manor in Portage for a little over two years where she was wonderfully cared for.

'The memory of the just is blessed.' Proverbs 10:7
