Anna Doty Obituary

Anna Grace Doty (1934-2020) passed away peacefully in the wee hours of February 7, 2020, a few short hours after her 86th birthday.  Determined to make it to her special day, she spent it in the inspiring style in which she lived:  thinking first of others and trying to comfort them, sharing witty comments, motherly advice and warm memories and having fun when she could. She passed peacefully, grateful for her “good life” and “ready to be with Dad”, who left us in 2002.

Mom was born on February 6, 1934, daughter of the late George and Ruth Lean, was raised and went to school in the Longburn district.  In 1950 she married Dad.  Together they enjoyed the years of raising four children. They shared a love of dancing, gardening and creating a sanctuary at the cabin located on Mom’s original homestead.  She cherished the time spent watching her children grow and was proud of each one of them.  She was the best homemaker we knew, matriarch of the family and always someone you could count on.  In later years she felt blessed to become Grandma and Grandma Great to the new little ones who were born and a few she “adopted” along the way.  Her cookie jar was always full and her arms always open.  She held dear every opportunity to spend time with family and friends.

During her last few years she faced many medical issues, conquering each with dignity and grace.

She truly was our Hero!

Predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob), brother George, sisters Agnes and Kathleen, sisters-in-law Polly Westgate, Enid Ross, Helen Shields, Vern Fletcher and brother-in-law Art Doty, she will be lovingly remembered by the family who meant everything to her:

Son Gene (Darlene) Doty, grandson David (Kaley) Doty, great-grandchildren Montana Doty (Jamie), Preston Doty, Sharlin Doty, granddaughter Jenine (Wes) Griffiths, daughter Wendy Wylie (Gerald – deceased), granddaughter Sheri Wylie, great-grandchildren Zach Wylie, Shayna Wylie, grandson Joe Wylie, grandson Scott (Annette) Wylie and step great-grandchildren, son Wayne (Susan) Doty – both deceased, granddaughter Melanie (Paul) Houle, grandson Chris (Anne) Doty, great-grandchildren Owen Doty, Jackson Doty, and several step great-grandchildren, granddaughter Nicole (Jon) Braun, great-grandson Silas Braun, daughter Leanne (Ed) Doty, grandson Jordan Gabrielle, as well as special grandchildren Brandi Love and Tara Love.  She also leaves her special friend Marg Webster, sister-in-law Stella Koch and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mom’s parting words to family and friends were … “Try to stay healthy and have fun every chance you get”.

As per Mom’s request a private family gathering will take place at a later date.
