Wayne Donald Archer passed away peacefully with family at his side on July 5, 2018 at the Portage General Hospital. He was born May 13th, 1940 in Portage la Prairie, Mb.
Loving dad, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, brother in law and friend.
Wayne was predeceased by his first wife Jean (nee Roy), parents Syd and Elsie Archer, brother Jim and wife Faye, sister Jean and husband Bill Mutala, brothers-in-law Glen Saunders, Tony Zimmerman, and twin brother Dennis.
Dad will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his son Doug (Shelley) children Cody (Danielle), Danielle, step grandchildren Brittany (Jonathan…Logan and Parker), Bridgette (Kyle…Kaden), son Dwaine (Norma), and his daughter Celia (Martyn...Eleni, Tesla, Autumn), step grandchildren Kristin (Shane), Justin, son Darryl and his foster sons Chris and Scott, and his daughter Patty (James…Jesse, Dustin (Cassie…Avery). Sister-in-law Bev Archer, brothers-in-law Bill Roy (Bev), Lorne Roy (Jenny), Dennis Roy (Allene), Rick Roy and all their families.
In 1961, Wayne married Jean Roy and they were blessed with 4 children. They had 16 loving years of marriage before Jean’s passing in 1976.
In 1979, Wayne and Margaret Nurse were married. With that, he became a stepdad to Randy (Lois), Robbie (Elaine), and Aaron (Michelle) and grandpa to many grandchildren who he loved greatly.
Dad had a variety of jobs from working in garages, farms, the Trinity Church, Dan and Pete’s Auto Body, and Car Wash Stop before retiring after years of service at the Portage General Hospital. After retirement, he volunteered with Service for Seniors in the Portage area. Wayne was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever was in need. His love of tinkering and fixing things is well known.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved in Dad’s care over the years. The staff at Douglas Campbell Lodge, Portage General Hospital Staff…doctors, nurses, health care aides and all the ambulance attendants for the many trips. A special thank you to the dialysis unit at the hospital…Dialysis was a big part of his life and the care you all showed him will be with us in our hearts…thank you so much.

Memorial Service will be held at the McKenzie United Church, 85 11 St. NW Portage la Prairie, Mb. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 2 pm.
