George Fehr

Peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2019 George passed away at the Portage and District General Hospital, one day short of  83rd birthday.

George was born south of Morden, MB to the late David and Annie Fehr.  In 1950 he and his brother Isaac moved to Portage la Prairie to live at the Manitoba Developmental Centre.  Eventually George left the Centre and lived in a private home where he became very much a part of the family of Cathy and Mark Thompson.  Jodie and Adam Thompson were also a big part of his life.

George started work at Portage ARC Industries on October 7, 1978 and worked continuously up until three weeks before his passing (41 years).

George attended Portage Evangelical Church regularly until his health failed.

He loved fishing and for many years he and Adam traveled to Amaranth and Lake of the Woods to camp and fish.  His cat Fluffy also brought him many hours of enjoyment.

Predeceased by his parents, three brothers; Diedrich, Isaac and David and two sisters, Ann and  Mary, George is survived by  several cousins, his care givers Cathy and Mark Thompson and a host of friends including his special church friends Susan and Geoffrey Boese who faithfully took him to church for many years.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Portage Evangelical Church, 72 Third Street N.. E., Portage la Prairie with a reception to follow.  Interment will be in Sommerfeld Cemetery, Austin, MB.
