Edwin Roy (Mickey) Demman

Edwin Roy ‘Mick’ Demman, passed away peacefully, on Friday, June 7th, 2019 at the Portage & District General Hospital, at the age of 86 years. Mick was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on February 21, 1933.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Lois Demman, his father Edwin, mother Ella, brother Barry ‘Buck’ and sister-in-law Norma. He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Derrell Beddome, Darcy (Chris) Ingram, Kim Beddome, Cam (Nem) Beddome, Michael Demman and Dennis (Patty) Demman, his grandchildren Brady, Cory and Cam Beddome, Brandy and Mitchell Ingram, Joel Barrett, Reece Beddome, Ashlee (Tyler) Bruno, Samantha and Jessica Demman, and his great grandchildren Harley, Julian, Adrian, Zane, Hannah and Jax. He is survived by his siblings Jack (Betty), Don (Barb), Pete and Judy (Monty), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mick spent his entire life in the Portage area and in some way or another was always a farmer. Farming and agriculture ran deep through his veins, the morals and values the profession breeds deeply instilled in his very being and passed onto his loved ones. Winters were passed making ice and long lasting friendships at the Portage Curling Club. He lived an ordinary life peppered with extraordinary moments. A plowing championship trip to England, the births of grandchildren, world curling events, a cold beer at the end of a long hot day. Grand or small Mick took all life offered him at the same steady pace and rarely complained about anything.

Forever in our hearts and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial service will be held Monday, June 17th, 2019, 2:00 P.M. at the Herman Prior Center, 40 Royal Road North, Portage la Prairie, MB. Private interment to follow.
