Donald Jerry Gunn

Donald “Jerry” Gunn, age 86 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Portage General Hospital with his wife Joyce by his side. 

  He was born August 3, 1931 in Winnipeg, Mb.to Sedley and Laura Gunn, and was the third eldest of six children.  At a young age he stated working on the family farm in Reaburn, Mb.  Jerry travelled to B.C. to work in the forestry industry where he met and married his wife of 60 years, Joyce McLeod.  After the birth of his eldest daughter Troy, he and his family moved back to Manitoba to take over the family farm where two more children, Tammy and Lionel completed their family.  They then moved to Poplar Point where they raised their family and continued to live until this past June.  Jerry worked  many years for Manitoba Parks Branch until his retirement.  During his lifetime he enjoyed his numerous hobbies and interests including history, hunting, trapping, gardening, snowmobiling and ATV, working in his shop, traveling, following politics and woodworking. 

   He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean, and brother Keith and Bruce.  Jerry is survived and will be missed by his wife Joyce, children, Troy (Greg), Tammy, Lionel (Pam), sisters Gwen and Margaret (Billie), grandchildren Terri (Grant), Joy ( Jake), Travis, Ben, Jessica (Brett), Keisha (Andrew) and Hanna.  Great grandchildren Avarie, Scotland, Caleb, Haley, Charlee, Verona, and soon to be born baby Jarvis.  As well as Dennis, Doug, and good neighbors Ernie and Frank.

  As Jerry requested a small family memorial was held at Reaburn and on his property in Poplar Point on Saturday, July 21, 2018.
